This week we talk to Kary Woodruff, aka… legit when it comes to nutrition!
We talk about sustainable nutrition, the role food plays in our lives for health and performance, and even the emotional and psychological relationship we may have with it.
She has an an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and was a Division 1 athlete (lightweight rowing) and team captain for 2 years with an American and Canadian national title. She has been CrossFitting consistently for the past 6 years.
With a Masters in Sports Psychology and Masters in Sports Nutrition from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, she has worked as head sports dietitian at a Specialty Orthopedic Center. She is also registered under the US Olympic Committee’s Sports Dietitian registry through which she has worked with many Olympic-level athletes of various sports. She currently teaches full-time in the Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology at the University of Utah, and is pursuing a PhD in the same program. Author of 2 textbooks on sports nutrition, one geared towards a professional/academic audience, and one in print that will be targeting professionals working with youth and adolescent athletes. She is also co-editor of a quarterly newsletter intended for professionals in the Sports Nutrition field the Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition subgroup of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics), and have contributed to 2 textbooks in addition to my own.
